PERFORMANCE AND EFFICIENCY

One of the best things about the Genesis G80 is its performance. This is one sedan that does not force you to settle for something less fun, even if you go with the base trim level. The G80 comes standard with a 300-horsepower four-cylinder engine generating 311 pound-feet of torque, with an even faster 420-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine available. The entry-level performance of the G80 outperforms the Cadillac CT5, which features a standard 237-horsepower four-cylinder engine generating 258 pound-feet.

The Audi A7 Sportback sedan provides a bit more of a challenge in terms of horsepower and torque. However, the G80 dominates this sedan when it comes to fuel economy, traveling an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The Audi A7 travels 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, making it the less preferable choice for daily commuters in Prairieville, LA.

INTERIOR/EXTERIOR

The G80 ultimately has the largest wheelbase of these three sedans, measuring 118.5 inches, compared to the 116-inch wheelbase of the CT5 and the 115.2-inch wheelbase of the A7 Sportback. As the larger sedan, the Genesis G80 offers more passenger volume, with up to 104 cubic feet. While the A7 contributes a bit more trunk space, the G80 outmatches its competition in terms of overall headroom and legroom, between both rows. Our Genesis sedan also offers more cargo volume than the Cadillac CT5.

On the outside, the G80 is the only sedan of its class to provide standard LED quad-headlamps, which combine illumination with maximum precision, allowing you to navigate the highways outside Gonzales, LA with ease. The CT5 and A7 Sportback have LED bulbs as the standard, but are less precise when it comes to positioning.

FEATURES

When it comes to technology and safety features, both of these competing sedans provide some stiff challenges to the Genesis G80. Both Audi and Cadillac are well-known for having a generous selection of standard conveniences, even on the base trim level. However, the standard G80 ups the ante a bit more with memory settings for its power seats/mirrors, as well as speed-sensitive windshield wipers, a remote fuel-door release button, and an auto-dimming day/night rearview mirror. Most of these features are unavailable on base trim levels of the CT5 and A7, so to enjoy them, shoppers must upgrade to a more expensive trim level.

The G80 also comes standard with second-row side airbags and active front head restraints for maximum safety. Second-row airbags are available on the CT5 but not on the Audi A7. Neither the Cadillac CT5 nor the A7 Sportback come standard with active front head restraints.
