Louisiana Lights
Take a stunning stroll through Burden Museum and Gardens to enjoy thousands of holiday lights throughout the exhibits. The tour lasts about an hour and takes place Thursday through Sunday until December 29, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission costs $20 per person, with free admission for children ages 3 and younger. Don’t forget to grab a parking pass for your Genesis when you buy tickets. The gardens are located at 4560 Essen Ln.
Cortana Kiwanis Parade
The annual Kiwanis Parade will be held December 14 at 5:30 p.m., leaving from the corner of Government St and River Rd and proceeding through downtown. Stake out a spot along the route to enjoy marching bands, decorated floats, dance groups, and more. This family-friendly event has been a city tradition since 1948 and benefits local community charities.
Holiday Symphony Brass Concerts
The symphony orchestra will perform several holiday brass engagements including one right here in the city. See the show on December 5 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral, 401 Main St. Tickets cost $30.
LSU Museum Store Holiday Shopping Event
Check those gifts off your list at this special shopping event at the LSU Museum Store on the first floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts. You’ll get 20% off most merchandise along with free gift wrapping. The Shaw Center is located at 100 Lafayette St. Mark your calendar for December 6 from 4 to 8 p.m.
A Very Merry Museum
Join this fun celebration for all ages at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum. It’s happening December 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with holiday-themed planetarium shows, a Polar Passport scavenger hunt, and hands-on art and science experiments in a winter wonderland.
You’ll also have photo ops with Santa and the Coca-Cola holiday truck. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for children and seniors, and free for museum members. LASM is located at 100 River Rd S.
